Programme Aim: | Heartsaver AED is a comprehensive course for the First Responder designed to teach CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FAOB) to all lay rescuers, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace. |
Outline Syllabus: | - This course teaches you the basic techniques of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- How to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- The relief of choking for adults.
- A paediatrics CPR module can be added at the customer's request (additional 1 hr Training)

Training Method: | This is an interactive DVD led training course. Participants engage in mannequin practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of (AED) and physical practice of foreign airway obstruction. |
Participant Profile: | It is open and should be offered to all staff within a company on induction or with existing staff. 15 people per day develop cardiac arrest in Ireland outside of a Hospital setting - it could happen within your organisation next. Course participants from many sectors from security guards, fire-fighters, police, commercial airline crews, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, and all other lay responders who have an interest and access to an AED. |
Europa Academy selected trainers & brief profile: | Our selected trainers have been full-time professional fire fighters/Paramedics for the past 12 years. Over the past 5 years they have been involved in teaching a variety of courses within the private sector. They have a wide range of qualifications ranging from confined space's training to marine emergency rescue and are considered leading instructors in fire training. |
