About the Event

Fingal Enterprise Week is the biggest event for small businesses in Fingal in 2011.  Fingal Enterprise Week provides a unique opportunity for business owner managers and aspiring entrepreneurs to gain knowledge, acquire information, network and make new contacts.

Our events are planned with you in mind. We appreciate that you are busy so events are half day sessions (or less). We have gathered a host of specialist speakers. We have developed a programme of events that are practical opportunities for you to learn valuable information that you can apply back in your own business. We recognise that some industries (Food, Tourism and Craft) face particular challenges so we have developed a number of events tailored to the needs of those sectors. But we have also planned events that will help to meet the needs of entrepreneurs in general such as our Pop-Up Bank, Social Media and Exporting sessions.

EU Legislation which came into effect on the 4th July 2010 requires all personnel working with Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (F-gas) must be suitably trained.

Stream Ireland Ltd will invest €2.5 million in a new dedicated solution centre in Swords Business Campus, Swords, Co Dublin. The company has entered into an agreement with a leading manufacturer of video game consoles to provide consolidated European technical and customer support for a popular gaming product. Stream, which has a presence in Santry Dublin since 1995, currently employs 325 people providing customer support service to a range of clients including travel, telecommunications and consumer products.

This exciting news heralds a new era for Swords and the Fingal Dublin Region with over 400 highly skilled jobs being announced. Recruitment is now underway and the plant is due to open at the end of August. The decision by Stream Global Services to locate in this area is further evidence of Fingal’s position as one of the country’s best source of highly qualified young people who have the necessary skills in languages and technology to fill these vacancies” said Chamber CEO Tony Lambert
“These excellent jobs will be a major boost for the local economy and will further enhance the reputation of the Fingal Region in attracting more international investment into the area. The Chamber will continue to promote Fingal as the prime location for companies seeking a business friendly environment in which to grow their businesses.
Coming a week after the DAA announcement of 500 jobs for Terminal Two, it will also increase business confidence and generate more jobs throughout many business sectors.” Said Lambert

Announcing the jobs today, Minister O Keeffe said: “Streams decision to choose Ireland to offer pan-European support to a leading video game manufacturer demonstrates to the global investment community that we continue to attract top global players in these difficult times for the world economy.

“The significant number of jobs adds momentum to Irelands economic recovery and generates confidence in our capacity to outperform competitors for foreign direct investment wins”, concluded Minister O’Keeffe.

“Stream is excited to establish our new centre in Ireland. This investment is one of the most important by the company in the region in recent years and we are very satisfied in the ability of our Irish operations to deliver excellent service solutions. We are confident that our nearly 20 years experience offering complex services in customer care and technical support, coupled with our extensive language support and global footprint, will enable us to provide the most comprehensive and value-based solution for our client”, said Stream Chairman and CEO, Scott Murray.

Speaking at todays announcement, Martin Schoppler, Country Manager, Stream Ireland said, “Recruitment is commencing immediately and I am looking forward to getting the team established in our new dedicated Media and Entertainment centre in Swords. With Irelands availability of highly qualified and skilled workers, we look forward to counting Dublin as a pivotal hub of our European presence.”

IDA Ireland’s CEO, Barry O Leary welcomed todays announcement and said “This investment reinforces Irelands reputation as one of Europes leading locations for Business Services Companies. IDAs strategy Horizon 2020 identifies growth in International Services and Services Innovation as key features of the global economy in the future. This significant win for Ireland demonstrates that the country is well positioned to benefit from growth in the services sector globally. Todays announcement by Stream builds on the thriving digital media and games industries in Ireland.”

It has been an important competition over this time in enhancing Local Authorities relationship with residents and businesses of the county.

Primarily a litter awareness competition to enhance the appearance of residential and business areas around the county similar to but separate from National Tidy Towns Competition.  In attendance on the night was the Mayor of Fingal Cllr. Michael O’Donovan and PJ Howell, Director of Services.  We owe a great deal of gratitude to those people who encourage the rest of us to take pride in our surroundings”.  PJ also remarked that “the standard this year is higher than ever before and is a continuing testament to the concern and pride Fingal businesses have for the environment in which we work and live”.

Many community groups from throughout Fingal participated in this years event.  This year there were a total of 331 entrants across all categories.  The Facilities team here at Europa Academy take great pride in the appearance of their campus and were delighted with their achievement.

As the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland, the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) gives people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or training centres, in the work place and in the community.
