Supported by Suzuki Ireland
Suzuki Ireland launched the Suzuki Technician of the Year 2007 in June 2007. Working with Europa Academy and Digino, they designed and developed the Suzuki Technician of the Year website with on-line assessments for Suzuki technicians to complete over a period of four months. The four finalists of the on-line assessments were then invited to participate in an all-day practical assessment in Europa Academy.
The four finalists were Joseph Rooney of John Kelleher (Salthill) Ltd in Galway, Mike Donhaghue of Gerry Caffrey Motors, Terenue in Dublin, Alan Hogan of Longford Motors in Longford and Kenneth McCann of Cassidy Motors in Mayo.
The practical assessment day was intense and exciting for the four finalists who were asked to perform various repairs on Suzuki vehicles which would determine the overall winner. Tommy Greeley and Viv Conlan, Suzuki Ireland were in attendance during the assessments supporting and encouraging each of the finalists. Liam White and Damien Curran, Europa Academy were the independent assessors on the day. Each finalist performed to the highest level of competency and technical knowledge which made it a very tight result. However, there was one overall winner, Mike Donhoghue of Gerry Caffrey Motors who received a travel voucher from Suzuki Ireland and the award of Suzuki Technician of the Year 2007.
