| Programme Objective: | To identify the skills and techniques involved in safe lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or, moving a load. To gain practice and gain feedback on these skills and techniques. |

| Programme Aim: | To Increase awareness of safe manual handling of loads and to reduce the risk of occupational injury while carrying out manual handling tasks in the workplace. To comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, The Safety Health and Welfare at Work, (General Application) Regulations 2007. |

| Training Method: | Group Orientated to include lectures, formal talks and demonstrations. These are didactic in nature and place a strong emphasis on the trainer’s expertise and knowledge of the subject matter |
| Participant Profile: | Any person who is involved in manual handling in the workplace and wants to learn how to conduct a personal risk assessment and move and handle loads safely. |
| Trainer’s Name & brief profile: | Jeff KennedyJeff Kennedy has been a full-time professional fire fighter/Paramedic for the past 12 years. Over the past 5 years Jeff has been involved in teaching a variety of course’s within the private sector. He has a wide range of qualifications ranging from confined space’s training to marine emergency rescue and is considered a leading instructor in fire training. |
| Training Facilities: | AV equipment and flipchart. Comprehensive course handouts supplied |
| Assessment Method: | Ongoing assessment throughout which is Instructor verified. Participants will also be required to undertake a written and practical exam. |
| Certification: | Irish Fire & Safety Solutions. Valid for 3 years |
